Gas Utility Industry Announces

Blue Flame Award Winner: Sterling Boilerless Gas Powered Steamer

(Washington, DC)  The Energy Solutions Center (ESC) is pleased to announce that its Blue Flame Alliance Consortium, dedicated to bringing new gas solutions to the commercial sector, including the foodservice industry, has selected Sterling’s 6-Pan High Efficiency Boilerless Convection Steamer to receive the 2023 Blue Flame Product of the Year Award. Sterling will be presented with the award at The North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) Show, Orlando, FL on February 1, 2023.

The Sterling Boilerless Steamer is a powerful 60,000 BTU unit for high production batch cooking. The unit has a proprietary heat transfer design that maximizes the transfer of heat from the IR powered burner to steam with very limited space available. This allows for greater heat transfer to the food which makes it the most efficient gas-powered boilerless steamer ever tested. This Energy Star qualified unit saves $1,000/yr in utility costs; $15,000 over the 15-year life of the unit compared to a boiler-based steamer. Each unit also saves 2.4 million gallons of water and the carbon footprint of 15,000 trees over the life of the unit compared to a boiler-based unit. Only the highest quality components and materials are used in the construction of the Sterling unit. It comes with a one-year parts and labor warranty with extended warranties up to five years available. Chip Tippmann, President of Sterling, noted “We set out to design the most efficient and highest production gas powered connectionless steamer possible. We are honored to receive the Blue Flame award for our efforts.”
