“Cooking with gas is the most efficient way to create a high quality customer entertainment & dining experience”
Doug Allen, CEC Foodservice Consultant Premier Hospitality

• Utility rebate programs provide great incentives for installing high tech gas equipment.
• Natural Gas infrared heaters provide that “warming comfort” during the winter and shoulder season.
• From a professional culinary standpoint there is nothing better than cooking with natural gas.
Unlike bowling, at Topgolf, you play in a bay instead of a lane, and from that bay, you hit micro-chipped golf balls into giant targets in an outfield to score points. Global sports entertainment leader, Topgolf, opened the doors to their first Minnesota location in September 2018 and is expected to attract over 450,000 visitors annually. The three-level, 65,000-square facility features 102 high tech, climate-controlled hitting bays for year round comfort and is one of 53 locations internationally.
Topgolf pioneered this innovative technology to make golf more fun and engaging and has emerged as a global sports and entertainment venue focused on connecting people in entertaining ways. Guests enjoy point-scoring golf games using microchipped balls that instantly score themselves, showing each players accuracy and distance of their shots on a TV screen in their hitting bay. All Topgolf venues feature big screen TVs, flexible private event spaces and music in climate-controlled hitting bays for all-seasons comfort. Tapping into the region’s top culinary talent, each Topgolf venue features an accomplished Executive Chef and chef-driven menu. You’ll find a fresh twist on American classics, local specialties and brews, plus unexpected new creations.
Natural Gas Provides Efficiency and Comfort…
The efficiency and lower operating cost attributes of natural gas for cooking was an obvious choice. And even better investment results were realized when you factor in the CenterPoint Energy rebates for the high effieicncy gas combi ovens and fryers, which helped reduce the installed cost. And the 306 low intensity tube type infrared heaters installed throughtout the 102 hitting bays made that technology an added plus for efficiency rebates. With this Minneapolis location being the coldest Topgolf location, the infrared bay heaters were critical to efficiently providing customer comfort during the colder months. Topgolf management worked closely with CenterPoint’s Foodservice.

Energy Efficiency Consul- tant Ann Lovcik in selecting available gas equipment incentives, which proved to be significantly rewarding, totaling over $49,000.
Environmental Impact…
Incorporating high efficiency gas combi ovens and gas fryers for cooking, along with the natural gas infrared bay heaters reduced overall annual C02 emissions by 328 metric tons and saves over $49,000 in annual operating costs.
“Topgolf was quick to accept the merits of our Energy Rebates Program for installing high efficiency natural gas equipment. The rebates helped to significantly reduce the initial installed costs“
